Identify a knowledge issue associated with North Korea

When a thinking about a knowledge issue asscociated with North Korea, what immediately jumps out at me is reason. The way that North Korea is often presented in liberal media challenges our reasoning. They give you information on how bad it is and it makes us as a people reason with whats true and whats not. We know that North Korea is under a dictatorship, but for the people who live there who arent peasants we have to reason if they are actually living that harsh of lives. I believe Ameriaca had to do this in the late 60′s which is one of the main reasons we ended up in the Vietnam War..

Can ethical questions be quantified? Describe an example or counterexample.

Ethical questions can and are quantified all the time. My prime example is the popular question, “Is it wr ong to hide the truth?” Now this question can be put on a scale from small circumstance to enormous circumstance. Small circumstance, A friend wants to know if she looks fat in a pair of jeans. Now I know in my mind she looks like a cow in those jeans plus our relationship has been based off us being honest to each other in those circumstances. So I blatantly say yes to the friend and she changes them. That is an example of a small circumstance. It really does matter if I tell the truth or not because we are having a light conversation. Large circumstance, my friend is very suicidal and he wants to know if his girlfriend is cheating on him. I know if I tell him the truth that she is then he will immediately kill himself. So maybe I should lie until I can get him professional help from someone qualified. Now this ethical choice has been quantified from small scale to large and I decided when its best to be honest and when its best to lie based on the quantity of my ethical choice.

Describe a personal example of when you have used reason with language.

I have always been much of a flirtatious guy. One day when I was in a Burger King eating lunch with my mother I saw the prettiest girl I have ever seen walk in. She was hispanic and beautiful in every way I could imagine. So me being the flirtatious man I am decided to approach her. After saying one sentence I realized the large roadblock that could harm us spending our lives together. SHE COULDNT SPEAK A WORD OF ENGLISH!!! At this time I had only had about three years of spanish under my belt so I had to reason the best I could with body language and bits and pieces of the spanish language. This seemed to be more difficult than I imagined but I believe she understood the majority of what I was talking about and she was just playing hard to get. That day I got her number thanks to my ability of reasoning with language and I still talk to that same girl to this very day.

Describe an example of when fear caused you to reason irrationally.

When I was much younger I was very afraid of the dark. Unfortunately my brothers Anthony and Quintin knew of this fear very well. Well one night they decided to scare me. They had planned on jumping out from around the corner and yelling really loud when I got out of the bathroom. Since the rest of the lights in the house were turned off I would be terrified. Well once I got out of the bathroom Anthony jumped from around the corner and he certainly got what he was not expecting. My fear blinded me and my reflexes forced me to punch him square in the face. The fear then completely took over my body and I comenced to pumble him repeatedly and irrationally. Thankfully I was only around 6 years old at the time and Anthony was about 11 so he wasnt badly injured. My fear really caused me to react irrationally that night.

Art?

Today we watched a presentation from Emily Downing and Arcadia (Lulu) Kaiser. They were presenting on the topic of art. Their main question was what is art? And what can be considered as art? Mainly everyone had a different opinon on what can be considered art. After Emily and Lulu gave their definitions of art they gave us various pictures of picasso and asked us did we think that they should be considered art. Emily McNaughton gave a very interesting opinion. “what people consider art is their opinion.” I agreed with her statement 100% Art is ones own opinon. My stick figures may not be art in picassos mind, but it definitely exists as art in mine. This is why I believe it is impossible to grade art. Nudity is art also. The more nudity the more artistic it is. This is because the body itself is a work of art. DOMINATION HA HABLADO!!!!

Emotions

Personally I thought Banha and Chi’s presentaiton was very interesting. They had very relevant thoughts on emotions and feelings. Are we born with them? Can we help them? They propesed a very interesting question to the entire class. “Can we as human beigns control our emotions?” My initial thought was yes because you choose how you feel in certain situations, but what Banha brought to my attention was that maybe I see what emotions I want verbally but mentally I probbally can not control what I feel. This was an enlightening statement that he brought to my attention. And I eventually discovered that children probably do have a sense of fear and survival from the moment they are developed because research shows that the poison injected into babies during abortions are usually attempted to be avoided by babies because they can sense the danger they are in. This was a very interesting topic. DOMINATION HA HABLADO!!

Ethics

I thought Chu Hu, Bao, and Pa’s presentation was very interesting on their ideaas on morals and ethics. Growing up me and my community had our own seperate set of morals. So when society had an opinion of what to do in a certain situation, my community (prodominately the black community) mightve done something totally opposite based on our own reasoning. For example: When a person catches a manager stealing from a job and the mangager offers the coworker money to keep quiet. Should the coworker takte the money and not say anything? Or should the worker report the manager? In my community snitching (telling on someone) is never an option, so the idea of teling on the manager is not even in the question, but taking the money and not telling on the manager as a form of extortion would be a choice in most situations. DOMINATION HA HABLADO!

Natural Sciences (Koualamos,Tu,Monique)

Today in theory of knowledge we studied the effects that natural sciences have on psychology. According to natural scientists, Koualamos, Tu and Monique, the human brained is trained to think of more in a whole and not pay attention to specifics. This is why when they gave the class a survey of trick questions that test the minds ability to read questions in specifics, it proved more difficult than at first thought. Further proof of the brains tendency to do this is as very popular myspace.com forward bulletin where it is 2-3 parargraphs of words that are scrambled with only the first and last letter being in order, though the set of words were still completely able to be read. The brain chooses to read in a whole which is why it was no problem to read the set. Natural sciences has prooven to be very interesting. DOMINATION HA HABLADO!!!!
